Upon arriving at the flying site, it takes about 30 minutes to assemble the TrikeBuggy Delta with the Wills Wing Falcon Tandem and about 45 minutes with the Gibbo Manta wing.ĭue to the lack of interest in this Ultralight, we have suspended making it until further notice. The TrikeBuggy Delta is Part 103 compliant as an Ultralight Vehicle, for use with a single occupant with a total weight of less than 254 lbs. Gaining altitude in this trike using thermal lift is as natural as can be, since the wing loading is ideal with the extra weight. Experienced pilots will appreciate and enjoy the way that thermals can be used later in the day to extend flight time. Simply sit down, fasten your seat belt and GO! The TrikeBuggy Delta can be easily launched in the smooth, calm air of early mornings and twilight evenings. The center of gravity is low, and the seat position is reclined and relaxed. A custom motor mount can easily be made to accept most motors. We add our heavy-duty aluminum frame that mounts quickly and easily to the buggy and wing, with an integrated mount and clamps that accept most paramotors. The robust stainless steel frame of the Stainless Steel Buggy is the perfect platform for this comfortable little single place trike. The motor can be quickly dismounted for travel or service. This hang glider trike uses a standard paramotor to provide the power, and the cage can be removed to lower the drag since there are no paraglider lines to get caught up in the propeller. The TrikeBuggy Delta is about as simple as it gets! We have added an "A" frame to the Deluxe Stainless Steel Kite Buggy, incorporating the motor and glider mounts onto the two legs of the frame. Triking has become a very popular form of ultralight flight, due to the simple and easy characteristics of flight control found on these weight-shift control aircraft. This information is still being provided for informational purposes only. The Powered Hang Glider Trike version of the TrikeBuggy has been discontinued due to lack of interest. Delta, Powered Hang Glider Ultralight Trike, Delta Trike - TrikeBuggy Delta ![]() Shortly after take-off, the hang glider impacted terrain near Miltown Malbay, County Clare. The AAIU has published a Preliminary Report of an accident involving a powered hang glider on 18 September 2022. The Investigation is ongoing and a Final Report will be published in due course. The witnesses recalled that they could hear the engine running after the flight. The witnesses could not see the Pilot, and due to a lack of familiarity with hang gliding, they were unaware that the Pilot may have been injured. The hang glider then veered left and rapidly pitched downwards towards the ground. The witness holding the binoculars said that they saw the Pilot launch the hang glider and that once airborne, the Pilot kicked his legs backwards into the harness.Īs the Pilot did so, the hang glider jerked slightly. The witnesses told the Investigation that they had never seen the hang glider before and one of them used a pair of binoculars to have a closer look. ![]() The witnesses were in the garden of the house when they observed the Pilot in the field with the hang glider and said they could hear an engine running which they believed to be the hang glider engine. The other two witnesses were visiting a house in the vicinity of the accident site. The witness immediately sought assistance from local people and also alerted the emergency services. Sometime later, the witness saw the hang glider at the other side of the field but did not immediately suspect that anything was amiss.Ī short while later, noting that the hang glider was in the same position, the witness walked down to the hang glider and found the Pilot secured in the hang glider harness. One witness was at home, a short distance away, and saw the Pilot at one side of the field, preparing the hang glider prior to the flight. The harness had an integrated, two-stroke engine, driving a two-bladed propeller.ĪAIU inspectors spoke to three witnesses who had seen the hang glider on the day of the accident. It had a Magic 166 wing manufactured by Airwave and a Mosquito harness manufactured by Swedish Aerosport. ![]() Subsequently, the Pilot was pronounced deceased.” Evidence gathered at the accident site indicates that the Pilot launched the hang glider, travelled a distance over ground of less than 100 metres and impacted terrain in the same field. The AAIU report states: “The Pilot was flying and operating alone.
